Description: Records of the UWM Institute of Human Relations contain advisory committee minutes detailing the guidelines for the formation of the Institute. Faculty members from several departments formed an advisory committee and subcommittees to establish the Institute of Human Relations. The Institute studied minority problems, social conflict, and integration of students at UWM. Included in the collection is the criteria in the search for a director. The minutes include a roster and summary of committee activities. The correspondence documents scholarship opportunities, financial supoort for the Institute, a student exchange program between UWM and southern schools, and the lack of inner city students at UWM. The collection documents conferences sponsored by the Institute, newspaper clippings regarding integration, resolutions to equalize educational opportunities and a report of Project Destiny, an Upward Bound program, supported by the Institute of Human Relations.
