The General series includes agreements made by property owners to allow the town to widen the road over sections of their land, William Munroe's report on the estimated cost of the project, correspondence from the Middlesex County Commissioners, a list of subscribers donating money for the project, and the Committee's financial report to the Selectmen; the Bills series includes receipted bills for costs relating to the widening of the road and a summary statement of cash paid out.

William Munroe was born in Concord, Massachusetts 1806 June 24 and died there 1877 April 27. He was the son of William Munroe, a pencil maker in Concord. A businessman in dry goods and importing in Boston, New York, and Europe, he was a partner in the dry goods importing house of Little, Alden & Co. and a director of Pacific Mills in Lawrence, Massachusetts.
