Appointment and resignation files, 1971-1978.

The series documents the appointments made and resignations accepted by Governor Reubin O'D. Askew from 1971 to 1978. It contains the appointments to state boards, county offices, judicial positions, and junior college boards. Interspersed throughout the appointments are resignations from various appointed officials. In addition, there are two separate boxes of resignation letters.

Reubin O'Donovan Askew, the thirty-seventh Governor of Florida, served from 1971 to 1979. He served in the state House and Senate before being elected governor in 1970, defeating incumbent Claude Kirk. Askew was reelected in 1974, becoming the first governor in state history to be elected for a second successive full term.
