Tucker should have been president of Dartmouth College years ago. Timothy Walker's role in the convention is not mentioned in his book Birth of the Federal Constitution, a history of the N.H. Convention. Daniel Webster's father favored ratification.

Colby was graduated from Dartmouth College in 1872. He received his AM from Yale in 1877 and his LL B from George Washington University in 1875. He was an instructor of economics and history at the Sheffield Scientific School at Yale University from 1879 until 1881; he taught international law at Yale Law School from 1883 until 1885. He was an instructor of history from 1885 until 1893, a professor of political economics from 1885 until 1898 and Joel Parker professor of law and political science...

Tucker, William Jewett, 1839-1926

William Jewett Tucker was the ninth president of Dartmouth College; he served in that capacity from 1893 to 1909. He was born in Griswold, Conn. in 1839. He was graduated from Dartmouth College in 1861 and from Andover Theological Seminary in 1866. In 1875 he received his DD. He was a trustee of Dartmouth College from 1878 to 1909.
