Papers, 1943-1990.

This collection contains biographical information, clippings, programs, professional correspondence, publications, and awards. Her undergraduate years at Iowa State are represented by a newspaper clipping depicting her working on her engineering degree and materials pertaining to her induction into Tau Beta Pi, the national engineering society. She received a woman's badge from Tau Beta Pi in 1946 (as women were not allowed to become members) and received correspondence in 1970-1971 inviting her to finally become a member. The professional correspondence documents her years, contacts, and experience with the American Concrete Institute. Also included is one article that is based on Hurd's article, "Ferro-Cement Boats" and a copy of her work, the standard "Formwork for Concrete" (1963). Finally, there are five programs with information concerning Hurd and awards that she received, including the Construction Practice Award (1982, 1988), a Professional Achievement Citation in Engineering (1982), the Delmar L. Bloem Award for Distinguished Service (1990), and the Henry C. Turner Medal (1995).
