World War II Accounts, 1994-1995.

Two accounts by Mayberry about her wartime marriage and experiences as a war bride. The marriage account describes well-wishers accompanying the newlyweds to Union Station and a raucous sing-along by the crowd in the waiting room. Her war bride account describes her life on the home front as a worker for Electronic Laboratories in Indianapolis.

Originally built in 1853, Union Station had a dramatic effect on the growth and development of Indianapolis. It was one of the earliest attempts by a major American city to unite the passenger and express freight services of several competing railroad companies in a single terminal.
