South Carolina Railroad records, 1875-1876.

Records consist of two letters to W.J. Magrath, president of the South Carolina Railroad, and a printed chart (1875 April 10) entitled "Tabular Statement of Wages Paid for Skilled Labor by some of the leading Railroad Companies of the North & South." Letter (1876 May 25) to W.J. Magrath from J.R. Emery (a company auditor) concerns company tax returns and other matters. Letter (1876 Aug. 25) to Magrath from Richard O'Neale, Jr. (treasurer of the Executive Committee of the Democratic Party of South Carolina) solicits free rail passes for members of the state Democratic Party who "are very much embarrassed for want of funds to meet their traveling expenses in the coming canvas."
