Plantation owner, Sumter District, South Carolina. The grandson of Gen. Richard Richardson and Mary Cantey, Col. Richard Singleton owned Home Plantation near Stateburg, South Carolina. Singleton was married to Rebecca Travis (Coles) Singleton. Their daughter Marion Singleton married the Rev. Augustus L. Converse of New York, rector of the Church of the Holy Cross (Stateburg, S.C.).
