Sarah Reeve Gibbes account book, 1807-1866, (bulk 1807-1809).

Bound volume contains the accounts of Sarah Reeve Gibbes, with several pages in the center of the book containing Juliet G. Elliott's "Daily Book 1866." Half of Gibbes' entries contain accounts of daily expenses for groceries, cloth, ribbon, books, dishes, oil, negroes' provisions, drayage, market rent, and other goods and services. The other half contains accounts of money received "from market," from in town, from Ashepoo [South Carolina], [from] Sullivan's Island [South Carolina], "from stocks" [animals], cabbage and various vegetables, butter, poultry, and "from farming, stock, & gardening." Elliott's accounts include rent from houses, sale of furniture, sale of pearls, taxes, and other income and expenses.
