Laurel Hill Rice Mill account book, 1845-1863.

Bound volume containing accounts of the Laurel Hill Rice Mill which was probably located at Laurel Hill Plantation, Georgetown District, South Carolina. Laurel Hill Plantation was owned successively by Francis Marion Weston, Plowden Charles Jennet Weston, and Daniel William Jordan. Printed headings on pages include owners [of the rice], date of delivery, bushels rough rice, weight, empty barrels, vessels, whole rice, middling rice, small rice, flour, bran, and remarks. Handwritten entries include the names of numerous Georgetown District (S.C.) plantation owners, the names of their plantations, quantities of rice milled, and the names of ships used for transport.

After his death in 1827 Weston's son, Francis Marion Weston, inherited Laurel Hill and other property. Adding to his assets Francis Marion Weston bought Hagley Plantation from one of the Alstons to use as the family's main residence.
