Henry Augustus Middleton Smith's (1853-1924) summaries (ca. 1915) of South Carolina land grant records (1674-1719) are handwritten on printed forms. Land grants cited are mostly in the South Carolina Lowcountry and include Charleston, Berkeley, and Colleton Counties, South Carolina. Smith notes the volume (38 and 39) and page number of the abstract book from which he obtained his information, the date of the entry, the grantee, and the boundaries and description of the property. A partial index to grantees and general locations may be found in the back of the volume.
