Diary of Joseph R. Underwood, 1834 September 25-1850 August 3.

In his diary, Underwood comments on his personal, social and, occasionally, business life. Portions are written by his first wife Eliza M. Trotter Underwood and his second wife, Elizabeth Cox Underwood. Martin Van Buren and Henry Clay are mentioned, as are various activities of Underwood's political party, the Whig party. Also includes a transcription of an 1813 May 8 letter to his uncle from near Fort Meigs on the Miami River as a prisoner of war.
