Papers of Alexander Duncan Savage, 1851-1936.

The collection consists chiefly of correspondence particularly letters of Thomas S. Savage, 1850-1880, re his Pass Christian, Miss., property; letters between Duncan and Tom Savage from the University of Virginia, 1869-1871; letters from Duncan Savage during his European travels and study, 1872-1884, and correspondence of Duncan Savage with his mother, brother and other family members, 1870-1935. In addition there are manuscripts for Duncan Savage's essays, short stories, music and book, The Edener; Duncan Savage's notebooks and a copybook describing books read, chiefly re Judaism; notes on medical remedies copied by Thomas S. Savage; family financial and legal papers; photographs; and art catalogues for the work of Casilear and Jessie Savage Cole.
