The collection contains three poems including "Lament of the captive" with translations into Greek and Latin and "Sonnet to the mocking-bird." Letters to Sumner Lincoln Fairfield, editor of the North American Review, discuss the disrupted authorship of Lament ... which was translated into Greek by Anthony Barclay as a hoax, and to which a Patrick O'Kelly also claimed authorship. In other correspondence Wilde discusses a manuscript with his publishers, particularly its advertisement and distribution; responds to a letter of admiration from John Osborne Sargent; thanks a literary society for honorary membership; and sends his autograph. The collection also contains a biographical newsclipping, 1885, and two engravings of Wilde.
