Also include letters, 1860 and n.d., concerning family news and marriage prospects in Virginia and Alabama; miscellaneous business and legal papers, 1828-1873, of Barzillai Graves, including receipts; law license, 1829, for North Carolina; letter, 1842, concerning his appointment as commissioner in Georgia; and deed, 1859, Macon County, Ga. Also include letter from "Eugene" to "Father," ca. 1863-64, containing family news, speculation about Grant's movements towards Atlanta, and an incident in which four Confederate soldiers were shot for desertion. Also include slave bills of sale, 1831-1860, for Barzillai Graves in Newton and Randolph counties, Ga., Caswell County, N.C., and King and Queen County, Va.; accounts; receipts; deed, Terrell County, Ga., 1859; and arrest warrants, Alabama, 1842; poetry; and genealogical notes for Graves and Lewis families. Also include letter, 16 November 1863, from George W. Graves, Independence, Tex., to Iverson L. Graves concerning news of the death of Junius Graves of Company I, Fifth Texas Volunteeres, Robertson's Brigade, in Chickamauga, the Graves family's desire to have the body returned to them, and news of local men serving in campaigns in Texas, Arizona, Arkansas, and Louisiana.
