Arthur Pickering (Barque) logbook, 1857-1859.

William Hathorne was born in Woolwich, Maine about 1826. During the American Civil War, he served in the US Navy at the ranks of Acting Assistant Paymaster and then Paymaster. He served aboard the USS Cincinnati and the USS Silver Cloud. He resigned from the Navy shortly after the war. He returned home to Massachusetts, married for the first time in 1867, and worked as a traveling salesman. He died November 18, 1904, in Cincinnati, Ohio. ...
