Commonplace book of Helen H. Richardson, 1808-1859.

This commonplace book contains engravings, poems, and stories clipped from newspapers and magazines. Also includes two bank notes from 1808, one for three dollars drawn on the Vermont State Bank, Woodstock, the other for five dollars drawn on the Farmers Exchange Bank, Gloucester, Rhode Island. Poems include The Raven by E.A. Poe; Jack in the Pulpit, and The Seer by J.G. Whittier; The Prairies, and The Battle Field by William Cullen Bryant; and Invocation to the New Year by Alfred Tennyson. One of the engravings is of Georgia Female College (ca. 1839-1844).
