Correspondence and promissory notes. The correspondence is mainly Civil War letters among Thurman family members at home and the front. Floyd Thurman, serving with the First Indiana Cavalry, mentions cotton speculation and Knights of the Golden Circle. Letters from home describe bad conditions at Camp Morton in Indianapolis, and mention Lincoln's assassination. There are also several promissory notes signed by Francis M. Thurman, 1866-1869, and an 1883 subscription to the Toledo BLADE.
