Ol'ga Ivanovna Subbotina Papers, ca. 1860-1940.

Correspondence, manuscripts, documents, photographs, subject files and printed materials of Olǵa I. Subbotina (or Soubbotine, 1886-1963) and her grandmother, Marii︠a︡ S. Benckendorff (Mary), and her sister, Elizabeth Taube (Mrs. Harold Roberts). The correspondence includes letters and telegrams of Aleksandra Fedorovna, tsaritsa of Russia. The letters of Marii︠a︡ Benckendorff's son, Vasiliĭ Dolgorukov, also provide information about the Imperial family in 1916-1918. Manuscripts include a diary and calendar of Marii︠a︡ Benckendorff (1917-1928). calendars of Subbotina (1929-1932, 1934-1935), and notebooks of Elizabeth Taube. Among the documents are birth and marriage certificates, passports and wills. There are cataloged photographs of Nicholas II and several other photographs of the Imperial household and of Subbotina's extended family. Subject files deal primarily with Marii︠a︡ Benckendorff's financial matters. She pursued claims to assets lost as a result of the 1917 Revolution. The subject file entitled "Claim against the National Bank of New York" includes material about the exile of the Imperial family to Tobolsk and Ekaterinburg, as do other folders. the printed materials include a 1917 Imperial Almanac and typed excerpts from the Soviet press in 1921.
