Diary 1843-1845.

Handwritten diary for September 1843, while unmarried, and typescript diary for October 1844 through April 1845, written after marriage. Both provide insight into daily life in a rural community in old Spartenburg County, South Carolina. They reveal the lifestyle of subsistence farmers which was hard and revolved around work, the weather, and illness.
