Son of Walter Scott, and Annie (Fenton) Campbell. Born in Detroit, Oct. 12, 1876; married, Nov. 20, 1908, Elizabeth Barton Pitman. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1898, and from the Detroit College of Law in 1901. Campbell taught history, was an instructor and dean of the Detroit College of Law. Outside of museum holdings, no comprehensive survey and inventory of campus artwork had been attempted since 1937. With support from the Michigan Commission on Art in Public Places, 1,076 items were inventoried during 1988-1990.
