Collection consists of material related to the career of playwright and lyricist, Leonard Gershe. Primarily includes scripts, correspondence, ephemera, clippings, and legal and financial papers for various productions of Butterflies are free. Other projects included in the collection are Snacks, Funny Face, 40 Carats, and Destry Rides Again, among others. Also includes a variety of lyrics and music sheets; a small collection of eulogies, speeches, and toasts written or collected by Gershe; legal documents pertaining to Born in a trunk; correspondence; and photographs.
