Sir Max Pemberton, English editor and novelist, was born in Warwickshire, educated at Cambridge, and later studied law. He edited Chums, a magazine for boys, 1892-1893, and wrote for Cassell's magazine and the Daily mail. He produced more than sixty books, including mysteries, adventure stories, romances, and history.
