Collection includes mainly clippings and articles concernnig the creation of public works of art on campus. Particularly well documented are the WPA murals designed by Grant Wood and the Christian Petersen sculptures in the Library. Also included is the art inventory done by John Huseby in 1977-1978. Photographs of buildings and art works are to be found in the University Archives photograph collection (SC-1).

The concept of providing public art on the Iowa State University campus dates from the late nineteenth century through the hanging of art reproductions in buildings, although no works survive from this period.
