The collection primarily consists of three types of records: parish records, diocesan records, and books. Parish records include parish registers; Sunday Schools books; registers of services; minutes of vestry meetings; Guild and other societies records; and account books of one kind or another from a number of churches in Arkansas, many of them now defunct. A large part of these records are for black churches in the diocese. Parish registers have records of baptisms, confirmations, marriages, and burials. Diocesan records include the journals of the Annual Conferences from 1871 to 1939; records of the Annual Convocation of the Colored Churchmen and Churchwomen from 1935 to 1946; records of the Standing Committee of the Diocese from 1880 to 1942; baptisms, confirmations, marriages, and burials performed by Bishop James R. Winchester; register of Bishop William M. Brown; and diaries of Bishop Mitchell for his entire episcopate, 1938-1956. Books include journals of the Conventions of the Bishops, Clergy, and Laity of the Protestant Episcopal Church of the United States; a history of the Protestant Episcopal Church in the United States; and the 1928 edition of the Book of Common Prayer.
