James Scott letter, 1800?

Letter addressed to a Mr. Cobb of Margate describes an act of piracy in the Pacific off the coast of South America in 1799 and subsequent adventures of the author: "In the year ninety-nine embarked in a ship destin'd in the South Sea whale fishery, but... we were captur'd by the Spaniards on the south coast of America - plundered of all there is in my possession by a lawless inhuman banditti and drag'd with barbarous violence to their capital Lima..."
