Johnson talks about his work in the Civilian Conservation Corps. He describes the camp at Big Lake in Beltrami County, Minn. and the various work assignments, including fire prevention and firefighting, road building, tree planting, roadside cleanup, forest conservation.

Johnson was born in Austin, Minn. on October 19, 1909. He joined the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1934 and worked in Company 720 at Big Lake (moved to Wilton in 1935) until 1936.
