Papers, [ca. 1860]-1986, bulk 1892-1986.

The papers consist of manuscripts, printed materials, personal and professional correspondence, copy books and journals, scrapbooks, family papers, photographs and lantern slides, which were preserved by Ms. Angas and document both her personal and professional life. Writings include a manuscript autobiography, privately printed memoirs, and manuscripts of her radio scripts, short stories, and some non-fiction articles. Much of the correspondence is preserved within three copybooks, rather than in the original form. Correspondence dates from 1906 to 1977. Notable among the correspondence are nine letters from author Zora Neale Hurston, letters and cards from cousin and author Madeleine L'Engle, and correspondence with actress Mary Morris. Among the memorabilia of her career are files relating to her role in Roseanne (1924) and other stage productions, and numerous lantern slides of historical and contemporary women's fashion. L'Engle family history is represented in correspondence, family genealogies, and photographs.
