Oral history interview with Vern Curtis. [manuscript]. 1969.

Mr. Curtis describes working conditions in the mines of Brisbee, Arizona before union organization. He talks about the reasons behind his decision to become a union organizer, the 1935 strike at the Phelps Dodge Corporation, and the organizing efforts of the Mine, Mill and Smelter Workers Union in the southwest. He concludes the interview by detailing the merger of the Mine, Mill and Smelter Workers Union with the United Steelworkers of America.
