The Myrtle Davis collection of World War I Letters, 1917-1918. 1917-1918

The letters are from two World War I soldiers, Sergeant Charles Conrad, who was sent to Camp Gordon, Georgia from May-December 1918, and Corporal Albert F. Robbins, who was deployed to France and Italy from April 1917-April 1918, to Miss Myrtle Davis of Barberton, Ohio. Conrad's letters to Davis provide detailed descriptions of camp life and what it was like to be in love, but separated by war. The letters from Robbins give insights on what it meant to be a soldier sent to Europe and observations he made about his own life as he faced the possibility of combat. This collection includes 125 letters, 16 postcards, and 15 photographs, as well as several ephemeral items included in the letters.
