Papers and 8 volumes of educator and social activist Alice Spearman Wright, re South Carolina Federation of Women's Clubs, for which Wright served as executive director, and including files on education, ca. 1946-1949; history of Newberry County, S.C.; South Carolina Recreation Society; and re Wright's first husband, Newberry County farmer and politician Eugene H. Spearman. Papers reflect Wright's service as Executive Director of the South Carolina Council on Human Relations, 1955-1967; her teaching experience in the Philippines, China, and South Carolina; other items reflect her serious interest in gardening. Published materials include 2 publications from Vienna printed in German: a 1928booklet re local improvements in urban housing, and a 16 page brochure from the Vienna Workers' Museum, with many illustrations and charts comparing labor, strikes, etc. in various European countries; and several publications from the Philippines: Development and Progress of the Filipino Woman (1928); a statistical bulletin (1930); and a 1930 issue of the Philippine Social Science Review.
