The Arthur H. and Effie Moore Collection consists of forty-nine black and white photographs, two articles, and newspaper clippings ranging from the 1890's to the 1930's. The materials reflect the activities and experiences of Arthur H. Moore and Effie Moore in Nome, Alaska. The Moore's, along with their two children and Mrs. Moore's mother, Lucy Hunter, relocated to Nome from Port Townsend, Washington. The photographs include images of businesses, churches, and buildings in Nome, as well as ships visiting the Nome area and gold mining activities. Other images include storms, fires and other disasters in the Nome area. Of special interest are photographs and articles relating to the steamship "Dora" and ship's captain, Zemro "Zim" Moore.
