Correspondence, claims, confidentiality agreements, consultant's reports, depositions, exhibits, expert reports, pleadings, photographs, register, and arbitration and settlement documents detailing this case involving the Interstate 35 tunnel in Duluth, Minnesota. In March 1986, D. H. Blattner & Sons, Inc., Avon, Minnesota, entered into a contract with Minnesota Department of Transportation [Mn/DOT] to perform work associated with the drilling, blasting, and excavation of bedrock for construction of the tunnel. On August 3, 1988, Blattner & Sons commenced a civil action against Mn/DOT in Ramsey County District Court [Court File No. C4-88-3142], seeking to recover damages of $5 million for itself, as well as its subcontractors, American Drilling & Blasting, Inc., Green Lake, Wisconsin, and S. J. Louis Construction, Inc., St. Cloud, Minnesota. The claim was settled on March 14, 1991 for $2,645,500, just prior to the April 1991 commencement of a jury trial.
