Food Stamp Employment and Training (FSET) Program files, 1982-1988.

Files documenting a work registration and job search program for food stamp recipients. Administered first by the Economic Security Department (1982 - July 1985) and then the Jobs and Training Department (August 1985 - 1987) under a contractual agreement with the state's Human Services Department, the program was funded by the United States Department of Agriculture as part of the federal Food Stamp Act of 1977. The program's purpose was to facilitate entry into employment for those recipients determined to be job ready. For each of those recipients, it included an eight-week job search, assignment of a specific number of employer contacts, and other employment-related services. The contract was terminated on September 30, 1987 and its administration transferred to the State Job Training Office. Included are correspondence, contracts, work plans, legislation, reports, statistics, and related records.
