Courtship notes, letters, and postcards between Becker, an engineer at the St. Paul Hotel (St. Paul, Minnesota) and Shirley Scott. Included are notes from Shirley Scott to Val Becker while she was an inmate in the Ramsey County (Minnesota) Detention Home for Girls (ca. 1916); letters from Shirley Scott to Val Becker while she was on a trip to West Virginia via Ohio (July 1916); and letters from Val Becker to Shirley Scott (July 1916). The letters were found during the remodeling of the St. Paul Hotel complex in the early 1980s.
