Scrapbooks and loose clippings, the majority of which document the activities of the humane society during the tenure of Executive Director Ruth Deschene (1972-1979). Consisting mainly of clippings, letters, photographs, brochures, and proclamations, the scrapbooks detail Deschene's appointment, speaking engagements, and radio and television appearances; promotional activities of both the state and local societies; coverage of abuse and rescue cases; awards both given and received by the society; Be Kind to Animals Week observances; and the hearing ear dog program. Correspondents include Duluth mayor Ben Boo, Governor Rudy Perpich, Senator Hubert H. Humphrey, Como Zoo director John A. Fletcher, Attorney General Warren Spannaus, and Minnesota Zoological Garden director Donald D. Bridgwater.
