A history of the founding and organization of the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. Information is given on the Society of Fine Arts, organized in 1883 by Judge Martin Koon, Mrs. Charles C. Bovey, and Mrs. Ruth Bovey Stevens; on the organization of the new Society in 1909, which later became the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, under the leadership of Eugene J. Carpenter; methods used for raising funds to construct the Institute building; and the ceremonies opening the Institute in 1915.
