Kept by T. C. Engum, Director of Rural Education/Schools (1924-1953). The files document teachers' institutes held around the state, mainly in the fall and spring, at the request of county superintendents of schools. Included are curricula materials (prior to 1941 and 1949-1951); summary statistics from the institutes and on school visitations (1926-1936, 1940-1953); correspondence, mainly from institute supervisors, discussing scheduling, program materials, and school visitations (1943-1951); county superintendent requisitions (1943-1953); scheduling and planning files (1943-1953); and reports (1942-1949). The latter include weekly supervisors' reports detailing the institutes and school visitations, and teachers' group meetings reports.
