The Rexford, Mont., station of the Great Northern Railway was established in 1903. It was closed in 1972 when the railroad was rerouted due to the flooding of the area behind the Libby Dam. The company, in which GN was the largest investor, was incorporated in 1929 to acquire and control the assets of several intercity bus lines operating in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, North and South Dakota, Montana, and Manitoba.
