The Rexford, Mont., station of the Great Northern Railway was established in 1903. It was closed in 1972 when the railroad was rerouted due to the flooding of the area behind the Libby Dam. The company was incorporated in 1906 and constructed lines linking Portland and Salem with other cities in northwestern Oregon. These properties were acquired in 1910 by GN interests, which subsequently offered a half interest to the Northern Pacific.
