Legal agreements, correspondence, financial statements, and tax returns relating to the trusteeship (1936-1941) of the insolvent Minnesota iron mining company by Great Northern comptroller George H. Hess. Hess represented the mining company's creditors, the largest of which was a GN subsidiary, the Cottonwood Coal Company. In 1941 all the mining company's properties were sold, the creditors paid, and the trust dissolved.

The Rexford, Mont., station of the Great Northern Railway was established in 1903. It was closed in 1972 when the railroad was rerouted due to the flooding of the area behind the Libby Dam.
