John Mason Giles was born Feb. 22, 1818 in Abbeville District, South Carolina. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1838. He was admitted to the Georgia Bar in 1839. John Mason Giles was a member of the Georgia State Constitution Conventions from 1861-1865. He married Harriet Jenkins on October 2, 1839 in Perry, Georgia. He died on May 25, 1866.
