The first part of the collection, generated by William R. Pitkin (b. 1877) primarily concerns management of the extensive family real estate business in New Haven, with accounts (1911-1917), correspondence (1916-1933), and other real estate documents (1921-1932). It also includes personal Pitkin family correspondence (1920-1932, 1942-1945), deeds and tax bills (1940-1977), a passport, the bank book for a Yale Class of 1935 reunion, and several photographs of Pitkin family members. The other part of the collection concerns the Hayden family and contains coats of arms for the Hayden and Migeon families, extensive business correspondence (1895-1910), transcriptions of letters from members of the Hayden family from 1840-1897, travel memorabilia (1884-1898), letters to E.S. Hayden of Arizona Real Estate & Mining, E.S. Hayden business advertisements, and several obituaries of E.S. Hayden.
