Papers related to the "Oregon Escort" expedition of 1862, charged with protecting and assisting emigrant travel to the West. Papers include photocopy of Secretary of War Stanton's letter assigning Medorem Crawford to command escort; photocopy and typescript of Crawford's journal and report; and handscript copy of journal kept by Leroy Crawford (Medorem's brother) during the escort's journey from Omaha, Nebraska (June 16, 1862) to Oregon City, Oregon.
