Prince's catalogues of New England books and tracts, ca. 1750-1815.

One vol. containing two manuscript catalogs to Thomas Prince's private library: "New-English Books and Tracts" and "New-English Pamphlets." Both catalogs are arranged by format and date of publication. The vol. also includes a "Select Catalogue of Books and Mss. deposited in the Historical Society," compiled by the Rev. Abiel Holmes about 1815. Prince's library is owned by the Old South Church in Boston and was deposited with the Mass. Historical Society from 1814-59. A portion of the library is now on deposit at the Boston Public Library.

Thomas Prince (1687-1758) was a graduate of Harvard College, a clergyman, scholar, historian, pastor of the Old South Church in Boston, Mass. from 1718 to 1758, and author of A Chronological History of New England, in the Form of Annals (1736).
