Bond, Lewis; U.S. Army officer. A native of New Jersey, in 1777 joined State forces and served until close of the war. In 1791 he was an ensign in St. Clair's campaign and on Mar. 19, 1793, was commissioned lieut. in Wayne's Legion. He came to Detroit after the British evacuation, and in 1798 became the second sheriff under U.S. rule, of Wayne County. He resided here until the War of 1812, in which he served as major of the Mich. Militia. In 1820 his home was in Monroe, ...
