The volume contains 61 letters from Ralph Heathcote (1766-1794) and 23 from his son (1795-1798). The former contain chiefly personal affairs mixed with literary and political gossip; the latter chiefly concern legal matters in connection with the late Dr. Heathcote's affairs. One letter by a third person, whose name has been erased but looks like H. Cook, announces a complete index to Shakespeare upon which the writer is at work.
