Commonplace book of theological subjects arranged alphabetically [manuscript], ca. 1713.

Numerous references to contemporary theologians. A few further entries at the end. A number of accounts and one poem which is listed in the Folger index of first lines. One note states that this book was written by a clergyman at Sheriff Hales, [Salop], and left by him to the Whittle family of that place. Another note of 1900 by A.T.M. suggests that the Rev. Thomas Birch, curate of Sheriff Hales, ca. 1710-1737, probably wrote this book. Matthew Wood's name appears on the end leaf. A Matthew Wood was vicar of Bowdown in Cheshire, 1708-1716, (see Al. Oxon.).

270 leaves.
