The collection consists of blue print copies of architectural plans of present and former UMD facilities, including the Dartmouth campus, the Purchase Street campus in New Bedford, the Fall River campus and the Center for Marine Science on the New Bedford Waterfront. The collection also includes plans of facilities never constructed and plans of local streets.

Construction began on the New Bedford Textile School in 1899 and on the Bradford Durfee Textile School in 1904. The two institutions decided to merge and broke ground at an intermediate location in North Dartmouth in 1964. Construction continues on this campus to the present day.
