Letters : Martinsburg and Berkeley Springs, to John Pendleton Kennedy, 1861, 1862.

Pendleton writes on 29 April 1861 that he is disgusted with the state of things in Maryland, is anxious to hear Kennedy's opinion of the move towards secession of the Virginia convention and surmises that England and France will not offer their aid unless the border slave states side with the rest of the South. In a second letter, 20 February 1862, Pendleton assures Kennedy that he is safe and asks him to forward an enclosed item to Dobbin [F.] Fulton.
